Bold Kitchens We Can’t Stop Thinking About

post1

If we’re not counting hours asleep at home, your kitchen is likely the room where you spend most of your time. It’s inevitably where people gather when hosting company, and is one of the most requested interior design projects in the entire home—and one of the most expensive projects to undertake. Most of a homeowner’s biggest purchases are nestled in the kitchen as well: countertops, custom cabinetry and appliances to name a few.

While creating a kitchen that stands the test of time is the ultimate goal, it’s incredibly important (and fun!) to infuse some of your personality and style into an otherwise oversimplified room. Going bold in your kitchen doesn’t have to be scary. With the right elements and the right designer, your kitchen can have plenty of “wow-factor” and still look incredibly beautiful many years later.

Today on the blog, we’re rounding up a few of our favorite bold kitchens to help get our creativity flowing. Hopefully some of these will encourage you to dream big and create a kitchen that you’ll adore for years to come.

One of the safest, most classic ways to ensure your kitchen feels equal parts unique and timeless is to source a statement marble/granite to make an impact in the room. The natural patterns and colors will speak for themselves without ever feeling too loud. We work with our clients to make sure that the patterns compliment the other colors in the room and are cut in a way that looks organic and highlights the individuality of the piece.

Embrace Unexpected Architecture

Use unique architecture to your advantage by incorporating curves or inlaid shelving into an otherwise flat, blank wall. Curvatures and unexpected shapes will speak for themselves, especially when they’re juxtaposed with the normal straight edges of cabinetry, countertops and appliances!

Highlight A Feature Wall or Bookshelf

We absolutely adore adding bookcases or display cabinets into a kitchen when possible! If you’re working with enough space, this addition can help to add a high-end, custom feel while encouraging people to gather and linger, bringing the feel of a cozy library nook right into your kitchen. This design element also allows for extra space to show off any artwork, sculptures or keepsakes in a bold, sophisticated way.

Opt For An Open Island

If you have enough storage elsewhere, opting for an open or partially-open island will make the room appear larger and allow natural light to travel farther, creating a brighter room. For a unique look, choose a different material for the open island extension as shown in the photo above, or simply have the countertop extend over an open area to create a more streamlined look.

Choose Unique Flooring

We’re huge advocates of adding a bold floor to an otherwise classic kitchen. The muted, neutral colors in the flooring pictured above creates a seamless pattern that never feels overpowering, yet it makes a subtle statement nonetheless.

Colorblock With a Bold Paint Color

Creating a feature wall in a kitchen with a bold paint color is an easy way to add interest to your space. You can also work in art or other unexpected features into this wall space that aren’t typically found in a kitchen. If you ever find yourself getting tired of the bold color, simply paint over it with something new and trendy, or opt to go neutral. Either way, you can’t go wrong!
